After 20 years, it\u2019s possible for the details of a relationship to get fuzzy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just ask David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who first premiered their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on The X-Files two decades ago. The series aired nine seasons and resulted in two feature films.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

While the two were unsure where they left their relationship in the show and films, the 53-year-old Duchovny and 45-year-old Anderson both said they\u2019re open to making a third X-Files movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The actors got together on Saturday to mark the 20th Anniversary of the series\u2019 premiere. They participated in a panel discussion for fans at The Paley Centre for Media in New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When asked where their characters left off, the two weren\u2019t completely clear on the specifics.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWell they [Mulder and Scully] were married the last movie,\u201d Duchovny said, referring to 2008\u2019s X-Files: I Want to Believe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWere we actually married?\u201d Anderson asked.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cI believe so. That was my impression,\u201d he responded.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

Their characters did become romantically involved in the TV series and were a couple during the 2008 movie. However, it was not clear whether they were married.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The both are clear, however, about their interest in another X-Files film.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cAll the principals are on board,\u201d including X-Files creator Chris Carter, Duchovny said. \u201cGillian and I want to do it, so it\u2019s really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anderson said if fans want another film they should let their voices be heard.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cIf it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that\u2019s what it would be.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

An email message sent to Twentieth Century Fox seeking comment on Saturday was not immediately returned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For an indefinite future, Duchovny and Anderson spent a lot of time over the weekend promoting the franchise. They appeared at Comic-Con in New York and also took part in a \u201cask me anything\u201d session on the website Reddit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
