{"id":1762,"date":"2013-04-21T13:39:25","date_gmt":"2013-04-21T12:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/up\/wordpress\/2013\/04\/21\/reporter-covers-china-earthquake-while-wearing-wedding-dress\/"},"modified":"2022-10-29T17:08:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T16:08:58","slug":"reporter-covers-china-earthquake-while-wearing-wedding-dress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/en\/reporter-covers-china-earthquake-while-wearing-wedding-dress\/","title":{"rendered":"Reporter Covers China Earthquake While Wearing Wedding Dress"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>One reporter in China went above and beyond the call of duty when she abandoned her own wedding to report on the massive earthquake that struck the city of Ya&#8217;an in southwest China Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Appearing on-air in her wedding gown, complete with the veil, the TV reporter covered the breaking news and interviewed residents affected by the quake that killed at least 156 people. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>SCROLL FOR PHOTO<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>According to The South China Morning Post, a photo of the working bride, identified as Chen Ying, went viral on Sina Weibo &#8212; a Chinese microblogging site similar to Twitter &#8212; as many netizens praised the reporter for her &#8220;professional spirit&#8221; during the tragic event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As Shanghaiist notes, Chen was apparently en route to the ceremony when the earthquake struck Saturday morning (no word on whether she rescheduled the ceremony).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The coverage &#8212; striking for its juxtaposition of a reporter wearing a wedding dress in the midst of disaster &#8212; is the latest example of an off-duty professional jumping into action.
