The idea of working with director Antoine Fuqua was enough for Angela Bassett to appear in the action flick, Olympus Has Fallen<\/em>. But things got better for the Oscar-nominated actress when she found out she\u2019d share most of her scenes with Morgan Freeman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI was really happy to have that and I was intimidated before he even showed up,\u201d Bassett admits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That all changed once they started working together on a set outside Shreveport, where they recreated parts of Washington DC, including the White House.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cHe was nothing but professional and kind and warm and fun, and you know, a treat,\u201d Bassett recalled.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The actress plays Secret Service Director Lynn Jacobs alongside Freeman\u2019s Speaker of the House Trumbull, who assumes presidential power when the president and vice president are incapacitated after a terrorist attack on the White House.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been in so many great roles and he works all the time, you know? Who am I going to be in a world with him? His right hand! And he was at my left. So it was great,\u201d Bassett said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added: \u201cAt the end, I couldn\u2019t help myself, I just grabbed him and said, \u2018I just had a ball, you know, I hope we do it again sometime.\u2019 I think he thought the same, so I was humbled by that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

While acknowledging that was a treat, Bassett called the \u201cmost salient aspect\u201d of the project was \u201cthe opportunity to work with Antoine Fuqua\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI appreciate the talent that he has and the worlds that he creates,\u201d said Bassett about Fuqua, who directed Denzel Washington to an Oscar in Training Day<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She says she was impressed by how he translates pages of the script into each scene. It wasn\u2019t until the scenes were shot that she had any idea how they would turn out.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt was in his head. Even the screenwriters, I was just with them the last couple of days, even they admitted that, you know, they wrote it, but still it was realised in a completely different way than they saw in their own heads. And they were talking to each other,\u201d the actress said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The film also stars Aaron Eckhart as the president and Gerard Butler as a disgraced secret service agent trapped inside the White House during the brutal attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fuqua takes a no-holds barred approach in its depiction of a terror attack on the nation\u2019s capital. Tourists are shot with machine guns, bombs go off at will, and the Washington monument is toppled. While graphically violent for most of the R-rated film\u2019s two hours, Bassett doesn\u2019t feel the film was gratuitous in its approach.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about an attack, so no,\u201d Bassett said before revealing: \u201cI even took my 78-year old mother in-law and she loved it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
