{"id":1332,"date":"2013-01-08T14:25:17","date_gmt":"2013-01-08T14:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/up\/wordpress\/2013\/01\/08\/fishburne-granted-restraining-order\/"},"modified":"2022-10-29T15:31:52","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T14:31:52","slug":"fishburne-granted-restraining-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/en\/fishburne-granted-restraining-order\/","title":{"rendered":"Fishburne granted restraining order"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Laurence Fishburne has been granted a temporary restraining order against an ex-convict who claims to own the actor\u2019s home and went there on New Year\u2019s Day to try to evict him. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>The order requires Anthony Francis, whose real name is Mark Francisco, to stay 100 metres from the Oscar-nominated actor and his wife and daughter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Francisco was sentenced to serve two years in state prison on a cyberstalking conviction in 2010, and court records show he spent time in a state mental hospital for that case. He pleaded no contest to cyberstalking after being found competent to stand trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p><wp-block data-block=\"core\/more\"><\/wp-block>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Francisco went to the Oscar-nominated actor\u2019s home on January 1 and told Fishburne\u2019s wife that they were living there illegally. Police were called and based on Francisco\u2019s agitated demeanour and criminal history, they advised Fishburne to seek a restraining order, the court filings state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Francisco also left a handwritten letter threatening to evict the Fishburnes and called police in recent days to try to get them to leave, the filings state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Attempts to reach Francisco for comment were unsuccessful.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Fishburne and his wife, Gina Torres Fishburne, have owned their home for 10 years, his filing states.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis is a case of stalking, and the judge had no problem in issuing a temporary restraining order to stop it,\u201d Fishburne\u2019s attorney Donald Etra said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Francisco has a 1993 conviction for burglary in San Diego, court records show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>The temporary restraining order was granted on Thursday. A court hearing on a three-year restraining order is scheduled for January 23.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Fishburne starred in \u2018The Matrix\u2019 series and was nominated for a best actor Academy Award in 1993 for \u2018What\u2019s Love Got to Do with It\u2019.
