{"id":1288,"date":"2013-01-01T15:01:46","date_gmt":"2013-01-01T15:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/up\/wordpress\/2013\/01\/01\/pa-railroad-calendar-delivered-63-years-late\/"},"modified":"2022-10-29T15:21:26","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T14:21:26","slug":"pa-railroad-calendar-delivered-63-years-late","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.egeve.com\/en\/pa-railroad-calendar-delivered-63-years-late\/","title":{"rendered":"Pa. railroad calendar delivered 63 years late"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>A northeastern Pennsylvania newspaper has just received a calendar to help ring in the new year &#8211; except the year is 1950.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scranton&#8217;s The Times-Tribune reports a mail carrier delivered it 63 years late without explanation on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>The large tube contained a 1950 Pennsylvania Railroad calendar addressed to James Flanagan, former general manager of The Scranton Times.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The calendar includes a holiday greeting from a railroad executive dated December 1949. Flanagan died that month. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A U.S. Postal Service spokesman says lost mail is sometimes found when a machine is dismantled or office space is renovated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Times-Tribune publisher Bobby Lynett says he&#8217;ll see if the Steamtown National Historic Site railroad museum is interested in the calendar.
