Transformers director Michael Bay says the 41-year-old actor will star in the franchise\u2019s fourth film.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Bay called Wahlberg the \u201cperfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers\u2019 legacy\u201d in a post on his blog Thursday. He previously squashed rumours that Wahlberg was joining the film franchise about warring robots.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Bay worked with Wahlberg on his upcoming film, Pain and Gain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p><wp-block data-block=\"core\/more\"><\/wp-block>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>Bay has said the next film will take a new direction in the series. The first three movies starred Shia LaBeouf and featured Peter Cullen as the voice of Autobot general Optimus Prime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><strong>The third Transformers film, Dark of the Moon, was the second highest-grossing film of 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Wahlberg, roll out.
